Cell Cultivation Top Page >3D Cell Culture >Spheroid Formation Principle
It is believed that the cells grow three-dimensionally by elongating pseudopods using as their foothold the fine-structure scaffold.
When using the conventional flat cultivation plate (without the fine-structure), the cells form as a monolayer, as they do not have the foothold.
Also, it has been noted that depending on the cell species and the cell size the cells have favorite "pattern size" and "form".

As this constitutes a wide research field which can constitute one grand academic theme, this principle awaits its verification in future research. |

What is a pseudopod?
The temporary projection of eukaryotic cells formed when cells migrate.
They are involved in the cancer infiltration and metastasis in the body.
