Cell Cultivation Top Page > 3D Cell Culture>Meaning of the 3-D Cell Cultivation

The 3-D cell (spheroid) cultivation, which lies in close approximation to the in vivo condition, is now in high demand.
Previously, cell cultivation meant that two-dimensional cells were cultivated through the monolayer cultivation application. However, in the living organism, cells, with a few exceptions, actually exist three-dimensionally. So, it is only natural that the 3-D cell cultivation technology, which is presumably akin to the process in the living organism, has come to be highly demanded.
At the same time, as the conventional spheroid cultivation required sophisicated techniques, it was assumed that it had to be difficult to realize a cultivation procedure allowing the easy formation of an adhesive spheroid uniformly and in large quantity.
SCIVAX believes that it is our mission to establish the spheroid formation technology which can achieve the activity similar to the in vivo condition, and in sucn a way that the technology can be widely utilized in various fields including drug discovery.

What is Spheroid?
The 3-D (spheroid or tufted) cell aggregate formed by numerous cells.

Traditional monolayer cultivation has been standardized as the long-established and customary method for researchers. This fact prompted our assertion that an easy cultivation operatrion similar to that cultivation is necessary for the commercialization of the spheroid cultivation.
To satisty this condition of ease, we have developed the spheroid cultivation plate (NanoCulture®Plate) by fully utilizing the cutting-edge technologies to achieve a stable repeatability. Thus the plate we proudly provide to our customers.
